Starting with a new tool always means learning new concepts, but it can also be fun and serve to broaden our horizons. Within my team, we explored various automation frameworks and low-code/no-code solutions for our specific needs. The tool called Testim.io received the highest overall score among all the options we assessed.
Now you may ask, why would you choose a record and capture tool? The answer is that a functioning UI matters to our customers. Compared to an in-house custom automation solution, a record-and-capture tool like Testim.io requires less maintenance and facilitates the creation of new tests much faster.
Of course, there are downsides to these kinds of tools (AI-powered doesn't mean it will automatically fix your failed tests), you get locked in with the vendor you chose, and debugging is usually limited; for more complex test scenarios, you will need to write custom code.
