Meet Azure Backup

With phenomenal growth of Azure compute infrastructure and applications born in the cloud, the traditional ways of backing up workloads in the cloud by running backup solutions in an IaaS VM do not scale and are not cost effective for enterprises. Azure Backup is a first-class SaaS service that delivers hybrid backup as a service without the need to deploy or manage any infrastructure in the cloud for protecting and managing your workloads (SQL, Exchange, SharePoint) whether they are running in Azure or on premises. Given the emergence of the ransomware threats, while most companies relied on cloud backups as a mitigation, we went the extra step to protect the backups in the cloud such as multi-factor authentication for destructive operations. We also enabled Azure Backup Server (A free download with Azure Backup) with features such host level VMware VM backup, a completely re-designed storage stack based on ReFS, Hyper-V VM backup based on RCT (Resilient Change Tracking) to address hybrid backup needs for enterprise customers. Azure Backup provides support for Long term retention up to 10 years for Azure SQL DB to meet compliance requirements of enterprise data in Azure SQL DB. Finally, Azure Backup provides a cloud management plane that has a rich dashboard to monitor day-to-day backup operations and the ability to export these details into Power BI to get rich reporting and analytics into your backup operation. This session will also include competitive collateral on how Azure Backup stacks up with other leading backup solutions in the market.
